Art exhibitions at Messe Essen: 121 paintings, 60 drawings, 13 artists, 10 private views, 5 years, 1 collection of catalogues and some 7.5 million trade fair visitors. Twice every year, artists from all over Germany were presented on the gallery of hall 11 on the Eastern side of the fairground, and at the Park Restaurant of Messe Essen works of art were shown, most of which had a strong connection to the region and therefore fitted into the trade fair company’s exhibition programme.
“Showing works of art in a business-oriented environment is an intriguing experiment for our artists, especially since these exhibitions are viewed by several hundred thousands of trade fair visitors in the course of their six-month duration. This is a multiple of the number of visitors coming to most museums. We offer the exhibiting artists an international public”, says Frank Thorwirth, Chairman and CEO of Messe Essen.
The new exhibition will be the last in this series of temporary six-month exhibitions. On 29 September 2011, those works from the various artists will be shown which have remained with Messe Essen. This presentation of results constitutes an initiative extending beyond the cultural capital year 2010, and demonstrating Messe Essen’s sustained commitment.
